Custom Action Figures -

Three things came together to get me started on this custom. First, I've been a fan of Cage since reading his Max miniseries - in fact, I'd done a custom of that version of Cage a while back. Second, he's been popping up in a few comics I've been reading. He's a regular in New Avengers, and he and his pal Iron Fist recently appeared in an arc of Cable & Deadpool. I've recently done customs of both of them, and a new Cage would fit in with them. And finally, I stumbled across new fodder that might work for Cage, and hopefully improve upon what I had done previously.

The
other night, I found myself opening another Marvel Legends 10
Angel. Actually, I was opening another entire set of ML 10 - I've
been amassing an army of the Build-A-Figure Sentinel that comes with
the individual pieces of ML 10.
Anyways, as I was pulling Angel loose from his packaging, I noticed the
huge ball-jointed shoulders that are overemphasized by the shoulder hinges
that have been popular in the Spider-Man Classics and Marvel Legends
series. Since I had already corrected this when I customized
Deadpool, I figured I'd get some practice in with this figure. I
threw in a couple of additional modifications along the way.

I remember looking at one of my brother's comics when I was a kid. There was this team of super-powered beings being led by some chick with a mohawk. And she didn't have any powers of her own. Back then, I thought it was weird. I didn't like the mohawk, and when I saw what she looked like before, I wondered why anyone would do that to herself. Now, I'm older and wiser. I look back at those classic X-Men comics, and realize that while she had lost her mutant abilities, Storm still had the power of badassitude. I had to make one.

For those of you that know my taste in comics, this custom may come as a surprise. You see, I hate Cable. I hate him, and all of those time-travelling freaks that got spawned in the X-Men Proliferation Crisis of the 90's.
So why this custom? I guess my tiny lump of coal that passes for a heart in my chest is actually starting to warm up to Cable, after over a decade of hatred. It's actually Deadpool's fault. I've been reading and enjoying the Cable & Deadpool comic series. At first, just for Deadpool. With the most recent stuff, Cable too. So, don't hate me for my fickle nature - I hate myself enough already.
