Falcon (Modern)
Custom Action Figures - Marvel
Tuesday, 09 January 2007
Being a completist, I picked up both versions of Falcon's action figure when they came out in Marvel Legends.  The "classic" version matched up pretty well with the comic book he came with, but the "modern" variant wasn't a costume I had seen before.

Since I was an X-Men fan first, I hadn't seen much of Falcon until his appearances in Brubaker's Captain America and Marvel's Civil War.  I liked the costume update quite a bit, and decided to convert the variant figure to match it.

Gladiator (CC15)
Custom Action Figures - Marvel
Monday, 11 December 2006
Gladiator was originally part of our group entry for CustomCon 15: Cosmic Legends.  I hate missing out on these group projects, so even though my work schedule was killing me, I found myself with some spare cycles close to the CustomCon deadline, and managed to whip a custom together.

I had to take a lot of shortcuts to make it, though, and what got shown with the entry was not quite a finished piece.  I've been able to put in some more time to get Gladiator to the finishing line.

Hawkman
Custom Action Figures - DC
Tuesday, 31 October 2006
I have wanted a Hawkman action figure for a long time, and while DC Direct has managed to make a few of them, they were either too expensive to come by, like the one from the 2-pack with Hawkgirl, or not really to my liking, like the First Appearance Hawkman.

The Hawkman from the recent Identity Crisis line of figures was pretty close though, and I bought one a while back.  It was a solid figure - stood well and had an awesome head sculpt - and probably would have been good enough right out of the package.

Morlocks (CC15)
Custom Action Figures - Marvel
Sunday, 08 October 2006
morlocks1.jpgI entered Caliban and Sunder (plus Callisto) into CustomCon 15, entitled X-Men Legends: Catacombs.  "X-Men Legends: Sewers" just didn't sound right.  Believe it or not, I had originally planned to enter something along these lines at last year's CC.  Callisto, who I made in September last year, was the catalyst, and I've had Caliban and Sunder here as WIPs since then.  It's become a running joke with people who see my WIP shots - poor Sunder has been sitting there, essentially untouched, for a long time.

With just two new figures here, I wondered if I should even bother entering it - compared to my own grand vision, it didn't measure up.  Ultimately, I figured that CC gave me a reason to finish.  Otherwise, these poor guys would probably still be lost behind other customs that found their way out of the WIP stage.

Cowboy Logan
Custom Action Figures - Marvel
Thursday, 07 September 2006
A few weeks ago, when I first started working on this custom, someone joked that I wasn't doing any real customs anymore, and that I'm only doing Logan mods now.  And yes, it's true, this is my third custom of Logan in the past couple of months.  I was pretty happy with the two Logans I recently made, but thought there could be one more to go.

When I managed to get the variant Logan from Marvel Legends series 11, I found it - that figure came with a cowboy hat, but it didn't really fit on the head it came with.  So I decided to make a cowboy Logan.  I'm not sure how many Brokeback Logan jokes I'll get over this one, but I hope to hear a bunch.  So get them ready!
